Postpartum Haemorrhage (PPH) can occur when the mother loses a significant amount of blood after childbirth. Studies suggest that between 73-93% of bleeding deaths are preventable. But early and proper intervention is vital and a rapid-response system is critical.
Synecco completely re-designed the 2nd generation of this complete tamponade solution to the emergency of postpartum haemorrhage creating a more intuitive system, maximising clinician control while dramatically increasing manufacturing efficiency to match the client ambitions.
The “EBB” system is the only dual-balloon tamponade system designed to quickly and effectively treat postpartum haemorrage. The interface provides an unprecedented level of control leading to a dramatic improvement in patient outcomes.
The typical method of tamponade is via packing absorbable material into the cavity, this can lead to numerous complications. The Ebb system eliminated vaginal packing, conforms to the uterus and can be deployed rapidly.
Synecco identified that the existing system required an improvement in its handling and control. This improvement was achieved by creating a handle which acted as a manifold for the various tubes within the system – this rigid hub was then over-moulded with a compliant material which was more appropriate for balloon joining than the hub itself.
